Conquering Emotions One Playlist at a Time: "Most People Are Good"

Sometimes it’s difficult to keep a positive outlook. Difficult to see the good in situations. Difficult to let go of negative experiences. Difficult to find value in the small things. With the busyness of each day we can forget to focus on the positive. Which in turn (among other things) can lead us to feeling stressed, overwhelmed, beat down, and losing motivation and hope for good things to come.

What would it look like if we switched our focus to the positive rather than the negative or the helpful rather than the unhelpful. There are times that something good does not come from our experience. Sometimes things are just bad or difficult. But what we can do is find something we can take away from it that can help us move forward. And most times it takes us some time to recover from a bad situation and to move forward.

Each day is what we make it. Everything is a choice. We can choose to focus on all the things that go wrong, or we can choose to highlight and embrace all the things that go right no matter how big or small they may be.

Find the small things, the simple pleasures and treasures in life that bring a smile to your face or a warmth to your heart. Find the things that you are grateful for, big and small. Start your day with a positive mind. Tell yourself it’s going to be a good day, and it just might be. When you go to bed a night reflect on what went right that day and be thankful. Because if we start our day saying it’s going to be a bad day, it most likely will be. If we go to bed at night only reflecting on the things that went wrong, we’ll close out our days feeling beat down and broken. If you focus on the positive you’ll feel more positive, if you focus on the negative you’ll feel more negative.

Let go of negativity, anger, and resentment. Forgive others and yourself. Live fully, laugh freely, and love unconditionally. Life is the greatest gift you’ve ever been given. You can’t trade it in or get a new one, but you can make the best use of it every day. It’s a priceless gift, treat it as one.

Most People Are Good
LYRICS
I believe kids oughta stay kids as long as they can
Turn off the screen, go climb a tree, get dirt on their hands
I believe we gotta forgive and make amends
'Cause nobody gets a second chance to make new old friends
I believe in working hard for what you've got
Even if it don't add up to a hell of a lot
I believe most people are good
And most mama's oughta qualify for sainthood
I believe most Friday nights look better under neon or stadium lights
I believe you love who you love
Ain't nothing you should ever be ashamed of
I believe this world ain't half as bad as it looks
I believe most people are good
I believed that streets of gold are worth the work
But I still wanna go even if they were paved in dirt
I believe that youth is spent well on the young
'Cause wisdom in your teens would be a lot less fun
I believe if you just go by the nightly news
Your faith in all mankind would be the first thing you lose
I believe most people are good
And most mama's oughta qualify for sainthood
I believe most Friday nights look better under neon or stadium lights
I believe you love who you love
Ain't nothing you should ever be ashamed of
I believe this world ain't half as bad as it looks
I believe most people are good
I believe that days go slow and years go fast
And every breath's a gift, the first one to the last
I believe most people are good
And most mama's oughta qualify for sainthood
I believe most Friday nights look better under neon or stadium lights
I believe you love who you love
Ain't nothing you should ever be ashamed of
I believe this world ain't half as bad as it looks
I believe most people are good
I believe most people are good
I believe most people are good
