Conquering Emotions One Playlist at a Time- "Who Says"

Being the mom of a teen and tween girl tends to present itself with many challenges. They are constantly faced with society’s expectations of who they should be, how they should look, and how they should act. This can put a young girl on the impossible path of perfection, which can cause low self esteem and a lack of confidence.

As their mom I work every day to encourage them to be themselves. Wear the clothes you like and your hair the way you want to, like the things you want to like, make decisions that fit best for you, and be the best you for you. Just because everyone seems to wear a certain brand of shoes or is dying their hair a different color, if it’s not for you then don’t feel like you need to do it. I talk to my girls about being who they want to be for themselves, not for others. And if people choose to not accept you for you, then ask yourself if that person should have high value in your life. At the end of the day we each have to feel our own feelings and think our own thoughts, so do the things for yourself that make you feel good and think positive.

This song sends a beautiful message to young girls that empowers them to be who they are and to feel good about it. Its hard being a young girl trying to figure out who to be and what to believe in. It’s not up to anyone else to define who we are as a person. We can each view ourselves as a perfect version of ourselves, and when we feel good about ourselves we can put ourselves on a path of endless opportunities.

LYRICS
I wouldn't wanna be anybody else.
You made me insecure
Told me I wasn't good enough
But who are you to judge
When you're a diamond in the rough
I'm sure you got some things
You'd like to change about yourself
But when it comes to me
I wouldn't want to be anybody else
Na na na
Na na na
Na na na
Na na na
I'm no beauty queen
I'm just beautiful me
Na na na
Na na na
You've got every right
To a beautiful life
C'mon
Who says
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful
Who says
It's such a funny thing
How nothing's funny when it's you
You tell 'em what you mean
But they keep whiting out the truth
It's like a work of art
That never gets to see the light
Keep you beneath the stars
Won't let you touch the sky
Na na na
Na na na
Na na na
Na na na
I'm no beauty queen
I'm just beautiful me
Na na na
Na na na
You've got every right
To a beautiful life
C'mon
Who says
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful
Who says
Who says
Who says you're not star potential
Who says you're not presidential
Who says you can't be in movies
Listen to me, listen to me
Who says you don't pass the test
Who says you can't be the best
Who said, who said
Would you tell me who said that
Yeah, oh
Who says
Who says
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful
Who says
Who says
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful
Who says
