Shayla graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. She is currently completing her practicum hours for her Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Sam Houston State University. She believes that individuals can heal and grow best when aided by a strong therapeutic relationship. Shayla believes a strong therapeutic relationship is built on genuineness, non-judgement, empathy, and a safe space. Shayla’s therapeutic style is rooted in Person-Centered Therapy, and integrating Solution-Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Gottman Couples Therapy to be able to fit the unique needs of each client. Shayla is excited to work with individuals, couples, families at Cy-Hope Counseling Center.
