The Cy-Hope Counseling Center is comprised of a variety of counselors with diverse training and theoretical backgrounds. Each counselor on our staff has a passion for working with children and adolescents in all aspects of individual counseling. Unique to our staff is specialized training in Filial and Play Therapy for children as young as 2 years old. Play therapy provides an opportunity for children to express their emotions symbolically, learn coping skills, and build self-esteem using play, their natural language. Filial therapy provides training to parents to be therapeutic agents with their own child.
Play therapy uses play, the natural language of children, to provide each child with an opportunity for emotional expression, the development of coping skills, and the growth of self-esteem. It also helps a child develop responsibility, decision-making skills, and self-control in a safe, non-threatening, therapeutic manner.
Filial Therapy - A Child Parent Relationship Therapy which provides training for parents to learn to become therapeutic agents of change for their own child. It allows parents to be taught basic child-centered play therapy principles and skills in a safe, supportive environment. Filial Therapy allows parents to form a deep lasting connection with their child that enhances their relationship in order to promote personal growth and change for both child and parent.
AD/HD coaching focuses on helping clients learn to better manage symptoms of AD/HD and reduce their negative impact on daily functioning. Clients can learn to develop behaviors and strategies that will maximize their strengths as well as develop compensatory strategies.
The Cy-Hope Counseling Center also offers individual counseling with counselors trained in a variety of evidence based approaches who specialize in working with older children and adolescents.
