Let’s Get to Know Each Other
Clarissa Taylor brings nearly 30 years of experience in education, working with children, adolescents, and families through many different seasons of life. Those years have taught her to look beyond what may be happening on the surface and remember that everyone has a story. We don’t always know what someone has been through, what they are carrying, or how hard they may be working just to make it through the day. That understanding is a big part of what drew Clarissa to counseling. She wants to create a space where clients can come as they are, without judgment and without feeling like they have to have all the right words.
She believes taking the time to truly listen and understand a person’s story is an important part of helping them move forward. At the heart of Clarissa’s approach is hope. She believes difficult seasons, painful experiences, and even our biggest mistakes can be part of our story without becoming our whole story. Her desire is to meet clients where they are, help them recognize the strength they already carry, and walk alongside them as they discover what comes next.
What Clients Can Expect
You can expect warmth, patience, honesty, and a space where you can be yourself. Counseling does not always have to feel heavy. There may be difficult conversations and quiet moments, but there can also be laughter, growth, and moments when you begin to see yourself or your situation differently. We will work together at a pace that respects where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be.
Strengths as a Therapist
My years in education have taught me the importance of listening beyond the words and taking the time to understand the person behind what may be happening. I bring patience, encouragement, life experience, and an ability to connect with people of different ages and backgrounds. I believe in meeting people where they are and helping them recognize strengths they may have stopped seeing in themselves.
Ideal Client
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, and family or relationship concerns. I have a special heart for adolescents and women who may be trying to find their voice, recognize their worth, or find themselves again after spending so much time being what everyone else needed them to be.
Treatment Approaches
I believe counseling should fit the person, not the other way around. My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and other evidence-based approaches based on each client’s individual needs.
