Let’s Get to Know Each Other
Hi! I’m Kristy Schneider, a professional counselor who aims to create a relationship with my clients that not only helps them feel safe and heard, but also fosters growth and a sense of being genuinely cared for. Outside of sessions, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I’m a proud sports mom, a baker at heart, and a lifelong reader.
I graduated from the University of Houston–Downtown with a Bachelor's in Psychology, then earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University. As a counselor, I’m committed to helping clients become the best version of themselves. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as my foundation but always tailor my approach to fit the needs of each individual. I’m grateful to work with a diverse range of clients—including children, teens, and adults—here at Cy-Hope Counseling.
What Clients Can Expect
In our work together, I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where we can explore your thoughts and behaviors with curiosity—not shame—and build new, more adaptive ways of thinking and living. Whether you're new to therapy or returning after time away, I strive to meet you where you are with empathy, clarity, and a deep belief in your capacity to grow.
Strengths as a Therapist
I work to empower clients by teaching them tools they can use beyond the therapy room, fostering long-term self-efficacy rather than dependence. I’m structured, supportive, and direct—always working in collaboration with my clients toward their goals.
Ideal Client
I work best with adults and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, or life transitions. Many of my clients feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, avoidance, or self-criticism and are looking for practical strategies to create meaningful change. I also work with young children, blending play-based methods with a CBT lens to help them build emotional resilience in an age-appropriate way.
Treatment Approaches
My approach is collaborative, structured, and grounded in evidence-based care. I use:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Play Therapy (for children)
Strengths-Based Tools
Psychoeducation and Skill-Building
Each session is customized to meet the client’s current needs, while always moving toward lasting growth and emotional wellness.
